MITTENS

Head of Hospitality

Opuntia microdasys

DO NOT PET.THE NAME IS A TRAP.

Introduced to soften the approach to the front door. The softening is visual. It is not tactile.

Mittens carries glochids rather than spines — hair-fine barbed bristles that detach on contact, lodge in skin, and resist removal. The facility owns no instrument that will get them out. Time will.

Visitors are advised to admire from a distance of one arm's length, which is also the distance at which the plant is best appreciated.
